Adeyemi Varsity workers urged to pray for incoming Vice Chancellor
Workers in Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED) Ondo, have been asked to pray for the incoming Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. Bayode Popoola, as he assumed position as the substantive head of the institution.
The statement was made by the Acting Vice Chancellor of the Institution Prof Samuel Akintunde, at the July 2025 edition of the University -Organised monthly prayer meeting, which held on Tuesday, 1 July 2025 in the institution.
Represented by his Deputy, Prof. Abayomi Olajuyigbe, the Acting University Administrator described as good news the coming of Prof Bayode Popoola as first substantive Vice Chancellor, while calling on staff and students to continue to pray for good leadership, guidance and safety in the University.
Prof. Akintunde, commended staff and students of the Institution for participating in the monthly spiritual gathering praying that the Almighty God, would abide with them throughout the month of July.
In a sermon delivered on the occasion by one of the leaders of the University Prayer Committee, Dr. Olukayode Ojo Akinola, he stressed the need for people to have courage when they are confronted with life challenges.
Quoting 1 Samuel 14 verse 1 -7 to buttress his points, Akinola also emphasized the need for people to move closer to God, saying He is capable of solving any issues that may occur in the family, church and office.
In addition, he also stressed the need for spiritual rebirth, among the people stating that “Being born again is foundational to becoming a problem solver, and a source of solution in a troubled world, we must not ignore issues around us because we will need one another” he remarked.
Also in a short sermon delivered by another member of the University Prayer Committee, Pastor Paul Adebayo, he called for divine intervention against flooding which occurred recently following the arrival of the rainy season, and later offered prayer for the incoming Vice chancellor, Prof Bayode Popoola.
In another development, members of the Adeyemi Federal University of Education Muslim community have been admonished to be of good conduct so as to enjoy Allah's blessings.
The advice was given by the Deputy Imam of the Muslim community in the University Dr. Alfa Olasunkande Mustapha while speaking at the monthly prayer meeting held for members of the Muslim community at the university mosque.
Olasunkande, emphasized the need for people to exhibit integrity and obey God's commandment.
Also in his admonition, the Chairman AFUED Muslim Community Dr. AbdulRasheed Oloyede, advised Muslim students in the University to pay serious attention to their studies and ensure that they attend lectures regularly.
The AFUED Muslim community leader, also stressed the need for them to make effective use of their time, so as to achieve the purpose for which they were admitted to the university.
Oloyede thanked members of the Muslim community for their support towards the construction of the University mosque, and prayed that the Almighty Allah would continue to bless them.
The two spiritual activities, which held simultaneously at the Olusegeun Obasanjo and the University mosque respectively, was attended by important personalities from within and outside the institution including Principal Officers of the University: Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Olajuyigbe; Registrar, Mrs. Olukemi Fakorede; Deans, Directors, staff and students among others.
