New operational vehicle acquired by SSANU AFUED Ondo chapter.
A new operational vehicle has been acquired by the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED) Ondo chapter.
Speaking while commissioning the vehicle on Wednesday August 19, 2026 in the institution, on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Bayode Isaiah Popoola, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Ireti Folasade Alao, commended members of SSANU AFUED chapter for acquiring the vehicle and prayed that the Almighty God would protect its users and lift the union to greater heights.
Similarly, in her goodwill message, the Registrar of the University, Mrs. Olufisayo Fakorede, commended members of the committee charged with the responsibility of searching and purchasing of good vehicle for the union. She prayed that the vehicle would be used for "utility, efficiency and good of members of the union".
While appreciating the vehicle searching committee members led by a senior official from the University, Mr. Taye Omotayo for their efforts in getting the vehicle, Fakorede said, "I want to particularly appreciate all members that have contributed to the purchase of this car. I also wish every one of you good time in this car, and pray that God would also provide for us individually" she stated.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman, SSANU AFUED Ondo chapter, Comrade (Dr.) Joseph Oluwaponmile Obamoyegun, thanked members of the union for their commitment and demonstration of unity saying the purchase of the vehicle would have been possible if there is no unity.
Reacting to the commissioning of the vehicle, Obamoyegun expressed happiness saying, "I am extremely happy because this is one of the events being organised by the union to mark our one-year in office".
On the rationale behind the purchase of the vehicle, the SSANU AFUED chapter chair said, "We decided to buy the vehicle on behalf of the union because you know union activities entail travelling up and down. There is hardly a week when we do not travel by road, and you will agree with me given the nature of Nigerian roads that we need to have good vehicle for us to be able to move conveniently on the roads.
"Although, this is not the first vehicle per se, we have a second one, a SIENNA brand that is lower in standard when compared to this; we have used the vehicle for over ten years. It was a 2005 model, now we are having the 2013 model which would provide more comfort and safety. We know that God is the one who provides safety, but what is required on our part is to get good vehicle that will make our trips more convenient, and that is why the union deemed it fit to have a befitting vehicle" he remarked.
The vehicle commissioning event, featured rendition of prayers which was given in accordance with Christianity and Islamic injunctions.
The highpoint of the event was the commissioning of the vehicle by the institution's Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ireti Folasade Alao on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bayode Isaiah Popoola.
